Which curtain rod diameter is the right one?

Here we would like to give you a few tips on choosing the right diameter.

In general, you can combine all our curtain rod diameters. For example, you can use 16mm in the kitchen and 20mm in the living room. Even if you were to see both diameters next to each other, this would not be a problem due to the true-to-scale design of our curtain pole system, as the overall visual appearance would be coherent.

Our curtain pole range includes curtain poles with 12mm, 16mm, 20mm and 25mm diameters. Unfortunately, there are no general guidelines for choosing the right curtain rod diameter, although the room size or type of curtain, for example, should already be taken into account when making your selection.

For example, if you have a small room with small windows, the choice of a smaller diameter such as 16mm would be recommended. If it is a large room with wide windows, such as a spacious living room, any diameter, up to 25mm, can be chosen depending on personal taste.

From this we can conclude that the diameter towards the bottom is purely a matter of taste, but towards the top it can have an unfavourable visual effect due to rooms that are too small.

If you want to install a very heavy light-proof curtain, it is not necessarily advisable to use a 12mm curtain rod, as this is not as load-bearing as, for example, a 20mm curtain rod. However, here you have the option of compensating for the excessive weight by using an additional wall bracket.

How many curtain rod runs do I need?

Whether you want to hang Roman blinds, net curtains and curtains or combinations such as curtains with outdoor scarves, this is completely unproblematic with our universal curtain rod system.

The following applies to the selection of the number of curtain runs:

If a normal curtain with rings, eyelet curtain, Roman blinds and net curtains is sufficient or if you only want to hang a window decoration, then a 1-track curtain rod is exactly what you are looking for.

If you also want to add a second curtain or outside scarves to your curtain, then a 2-track curtain rod is what you need.
